Teaching for Compassion

Children Full of Life is an award-winning CBC documentary about a fourth-grade class in Kanazawa, northwest of Tokyo. The teacher, Toshiro Kanamori, aims to have students learn to live and practice compassion. By building trust, reflecting and writing honestly about their feelings, and sharing and discussing these feelings with classmates, the students develop a genuine caring for their classmates.

I was moved to tears by Kanamori-sensei's powerful teaching method. I believe he's got the right idea in fostering understanding, acceptance, and teamwork among these kids. These are all keys in maintaining peaceful relations with others. I can definitely understand why other teachers want to sit in and observe this master in action. I think that his method should be adapted in all schools across the world. I know I'm asking for a lot there, but I truly do believe that it would be beneficial.
